This past weekend our family participated in our local park's annual cleanup and Earth Day celebration. The park is right down the street from us, and because we are there so much we take a real interest in making sure it's clean and safe. Each year, my husband's students join in picking up trash, raking leaves, cleaning up graffiti, and planting. I am a chalker from way back, so while the big kids were beautifying the park in their way, I was leading the younger kids in an Earth Day chalking celebration. Our art washed away with the weekend rain, but the ten white azalea bushes the students planted will be making the park beautiful for years to come.
