On this, Veteran’s Day, 11/11/11, we must remember that the earth is only kept in its goodness by those who are willing to fight for it and its people. Honor, courage, dignity, and humanity all co-exist only with some of the ultimate sacrifices that men and women all over the world are willing to give. Whether on the battlefield or on the home front, they all deserve to be remembered. Here are just a few quotes that epitomize what the strength of faith in humanity stands for.

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” ~ John Fitzgerald Kennedy
“We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.” ~ Cynthia Ozick
“Valor is stability, not of legs and arms, but of courage and the soul.” ~ Michel de Montaigne

“Praising what is lost makes the remembrance dear.” ~ William Shakespeare
